I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding how your Trust defines and manages pregnancies in women of advanced maternal age (AMA).

Please provide the following:

Answer To Question 1:
Advanced Maternal Age is defined as 40 and above.

Question Number 2:
Copies or links of any Trust policies, protocols, or guidelines that relate specifically to the management or care of pregnant women of advanced maternal age.

Question Number 3:
Details of any patient information materials, counselling frameworks, or communication guidance provided to staff concerning risk communication with AMA women.

Answer To Question 3:
There are no specific information materials or counselling frameworks provided to staff, however, the Obstetric Staff would counsel women of Advanced Maternal Age as per the Guideline attached in Question 2, ensuring that women are aware of the additional risks and care that will be received.

Question Number 4:
Confirmation of whether the Trust has a dedicated multidisciplinary approach or specialist clinical pathway for older mothers; if so, please describe its key features and remit.

Answer To Question 4:
For this group of women multidisciplinary approval is generally not required, however, if additional input from another specialty (outside of Obstetrics) is required this would be addressed on an individual basis. The Clinical Care Pathway would be as specified in the attached Guideline.
