Please provide the number of Trauma & Orthopaedics (T&O) surgical procedures performed at your Trust for each of the last three financial years, broken down by procedure type (e.g. hip replacement, knee arthroscopy, spinal fusion, etc).

Answer To Question 1:
Please see a list in the spreadsheet attached, broken down by calendar year and OPCS procedure code and name. Please note that this list is not necessarily exhaustive but was based on the number of coded procedures for patients admitted under the specialty of Trauma and Orthopaedics in the years requested.
Therefore some procedures on this list are not specifically surgical.

The Trust does not operate under an approved supplier list for Orthopaedic devices. However where possible we look to solely use suppliers listed under the NHS Supply Chain Total Orthopaedic Solutions (TOS3) framework, and any suppliers listed on there.

The Trust will explore using non-framework suppliers where there is a need which the framework cannot offer, however this is explored on an ad-hoc basis.

For Q7 the information is not held at this level of detail and would take in excess of 18 hours to complete
This would require the following: patient examples from the clinical /operational teams, manual search for patients including length of stay and theatre time, identification of all resources required and patient stay, costing and review by clinical /operational teams
As this is not held in a reportable format please find exemption notice applied.

Question Number 11:
Are you planning to continue using implants that are part of a set and sterilised jointly *Yes/NO* and if no, please advise when this will change to single wrapped only.

We don’t sterilise implants ourselves. Implants are supplied pre sterilised and securely packaged by the provider.

Please confirm if you require a QMS to be in place for all suppliers, at either a device level or supplier level.

Answer To Question 12:
Comments from T&O Consultant, assumption QMS stands for Quality Management System: There is such a huge variety of implants and devices we use that it's hard to say, but I would be confident we have a route to escalate quality concerns with the suppliers of all the devices we use.

Question Number 13:
Do you require devices to have an ODEP score or will you consider non ODEP scored devices.

Answer To Question 13:
We do need an ODEP score for arthroplasty implants, but not other devices.
